How Do I Create a Project With AI in ProProfs Project?

Create Project With ProProfs AI turns a short text prompt into a complete project, with tasks and subtasks ready to assign. The generated project opens on your dashboard and is available across List, Gantt, Calendar, and Kanban views.

What Is Create Project With ProProfs AI?

Create Project With ProProfs AI is a project generator built into the Create a Project dropdown in ProProfs Project. You describe the work in your own words, answer a few quick questions, and the AI builds the full task and subtask structure for you. The finished project lands directly on your project dashboard.

Why Use It?

Setting up a project from a blank page eats up time you could spend doing the actual work. Here are three moments where this feature pays off:

  • You're staring at an empty project and don't know where to start. Type one line about the goal and get a working task breakdown in seconds.
  • A new request landed and the kickoff is tomorrow. Skip the manual setup and walk into the meeting with a structured plan.
  • You're trying ProProfs Project for the first time. Generate a sample project from your real work to see how the tool fits your team.

Example Use Cases

  • A marketing manager generates a product launch project with phases for design, content, and outreach.
  • A founder spins up a hiring pipeline project covering JD drafting, sourcing, interviews, and offers.
  • An agency lead creates a client onboarding project from a one-line brief and assigns it to the account team.

How to Create a Project With ProProfs AI

Step 1: On the All Projects page, click Create a Project in the top-right corner, then click Create Using ProProfs AI from the dropdown.

Note: If you are not signed in, you can also start from the ProProfs Project home page or the templates hub, where the same prompt box is available.

Step 2: In the prompt box, describe the project you want to build, then click Generate Project.

Tip: The more specific your prompt, the better the output. Mention the goal, the phases, and the team if you can.

Step 3: Choose Yes, it's billable or No, it's not billable, then click Continue.

Step 4: Choose Yes, track time or No, skip time tracking, then click Continue.

Step 5: Pick the users or teams who will work on this project, then click Generate Project (this question can be skipped).

Note: If you are not signed in, this step is skipped. You can sign up later when you start customizing tasks.

Step 6: Wait a few seconds for the loader, then review your generated project on the dashboard.

Generated projects sit alongside your other projects and can be edited, reassigned, or deleted at any time. If the output doesn't match what you had in mind, the most common fix is rewriting the prompt with more detail about the goal and phases.
